Why Birth in the Water?

The Evidence Behind It...

While we often think of hydrotherapy as being mainly for pain relief, the evidence is clear that water birth has various benefits for both parents and babies. These benefits include decreased chance of cesarean by 11%, decreased likelihood of baby passing meconium (2% vs 24%), and a drastic increase in the rate of intact perineums was noted (8% vs 25%).

01

Four Grip Points

Did you know you have lateral muscles that connect your shoulder blades to your sacrum? This is why being able to tug, squeeze, or pull during the pushing phase can be incredibly beneficial. When you pull on an object those muscles activate and actually move your sacrum, making more space for your baby to descend. Our birth pools are appointed with two grip points on the upper rim of the pool, as well as two grip points on the inside walls of the pool. The craftsmanship of these handles allow them to withstand the full power of birth.

03

Cushioned Bottom and Liner

Our pools feature an inflatable cushioned bottom, along with an aptly sized inflatable stool for sitting, kneeling, or propping up on. Liners are required to preserve the longevity of the pool and maintain proper sanitation procedures. Though they do not impede any functionality of the pool.

02

Two Cup Holders

The labor and delivery beverage shuffle! Marathons are never without adequate hydration points, and your birth space shouldn't be either. After all, birth is much like a marathon. Proper hydration is paramount to a healthy labor, and having two beverages within reach is a great way to keepup with your fluid intake. We recommend keeping ice water in one, and a hydration boosting beverage in the other!

Photography Approved

Neutral toned birth pools lend an airier, more open, and less cumbersome appearance to your birth space. This allows the surroundings to fall into the background, and the lens to center on the intimacy and rawness of the birth unfolding before it.
